Gary Point Shoreline Cleanup

Over 25 youth volunteers across the lower mainland have gathered at Garry Point Park and Beach to help make the world a little cleaner.

Over 25 youth volunteers across the lower mainland have gathered at Garry Point Park and Beach to help make the world a little cleaner. It was an eye-opener that one of the most popular summer parks and beaches was left in a shamble: the purpose of the event is to do our part and take initiative to inspire others to do the same. Unfortunately, the amount of litter left behind after picnics, barbecues, parties, day camps, and other activities serves as a threat to our ecosystems; from dozens of cigarette buds, kite strings, bottles, and food wrappers. Not only that, however, coming out of the pandemic, we believe that this was an opportunity for community building and to encourage youths to enjoy being outside in nature.
